For a 120×120 cm window with two hinged leaves, about €310–400 with fixed louvres and €440–560 with adjustable louvres, installed, VAT included. Without a new window, the minimum order is €200. The motor is extra.

Aluminium is the most common in Portugal: rigid, it handles bigger leaves and balcony doors, and comes in any colour, wood-effect included. PVC is lighter and never needs painting, but for shutters it is the dearer option: around 60% above aluminium, because it is a less common product. The exact price depends on the manufacturer and we confirm it after the survey. Large sliding shutters are always aluminium.

Fixed louvres are all or nothing: with the shutter closed, little light gets in. Adjustable louvres tilt, so you choose how much light and air comes in with the shutter closed. They cost more and have more moving parts.

With manual hinged shutters, yes: they open outwards, so the window has to be open. It is the most common complaint from people who have them. Motorised, they open and close from the remote without opening the window.

One way to spend less is to motorise only the windows you close every day. In an apartment building, shutters where there were none change the façade: the Civil Code requires approval by the owners' meeting representing two thirds of the building's value (article 1422, no. 3). As for the câmara, planning law exempts window frame replacement from a licence but does not mention shutters: municipal regulations apply. We check your case at the survey.
