Under the SCE Manual, the Alentejo coast's reference summer temperature is 22.2 °C — just above the 22 °C threshold, so the whole region is zone V3, the most demanding. On south and west façades, Low-E combined with solar control, specified façade by façade.
Up to about 280 m the winter zone is I1, with Uw ≤ 2.80 for new windows (Portaria 138-I/2021). That covers the coast and most of the interior; only on the highest ground does it become I2, with Uw ≤ 2.40.
In Sines, on the Odemira coast and along the Sado estuary at Alcácer, homes live with salt in the air. PVC does not corrode and needs no treatment — it just needs washing. Good-quality coated aluminium also copes well by the sea; at the survey we tell you which makes more sense.

For a 2-bedroom flat (5-7 windows), a full replacement usually comes to €1,800-3,200; for a 3-bedroom flat or a house with 7-10 standard-size windows, €2,500-4,500 — large openings extra. Yes. PVC does not corrode and needs no treatment against salt — washing with water and a neutral detergent is enough — and modern PVC is UV-stabilised. Good-quality coated aluminium also copes well by the sea; at the survey we tell you which makes more sense.
The whole region is summer zone V3. On south and west façades, Low-E combined with solar control (a lower solar factor) makes sense; elsewhere, standard Low-E is enough. We specify façade by façade, within the legal solar-factor limits.
